Working on Driveway - Part 2

4 May 2024
,

So in Part 1 I talked about how I pressured washed the whole driveway and backyard, the stones looked nice and clean. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, all the roots and weeds between the stones also had been blown away by the pressure washing power.

The thing I did not consider was the sand between the tiles :). I thought they can just be left empty, but I was wrong, it seems whenever this driveway and backyard was built, since then there has been some shifting in the tiles so they had pretty big gaps in-between.

I bought about 75kg worth of sand to pour and fill in between the tiles, I also bought another 50kg of sand that is waiting to be used once this current layer settles.

My first idea was to just pour the sand in-between the gaps by hand or with a small shovel.. But thanks to my smart partner, pouring all the sand down and pushing it over the tile and tile gaps with a broom or brush was much more effective and faster haha.

The process was pretty easy and straightforward, one issue was ants they kept making more holes the more I filled them up heh.

All the major gaps were filled with this first layer, now I await rain to fall so it gets the sand wet and settles it so if there is more holes I can fill them up with the reserve sand I got.. I got 50kg of it, what am I going to do with that much sand, I got no clue.

This finishes the DIY part of cleaning the driveway and backyard, what other DIY projects am I planning? There is a few.. making backyard furniture from some euro pallets, installing new lighting in the garage (I am thinking if I should do it smart or dumb via a switch though the current switches are in odd places), and properly setting up my office among other things.

Now I am wondering what I should write about tomorrow, lord help me.
